Clearing out the old to make way for the new

It’s always hard to get the energy to finish old unfinished objects (UFO’s) but to start planning a new wardrobe and make a 2012 sewing plan all the old projects must be finished!  There are patterns coming into stock in my new little online shop which I’m desperate to make.  The ones I’m really in love with are the sewaholic Cambie dress and the Colette patterns Crepe dress.

Unfinished project list

  1. Alterations to 2 pairs of pants
  2. Finish Sorbetto muslins
  3. Finish cushions
  4. Lady Grey jacket
  5. Quilt for Ben
  6. Quilt for baby Smith
  7. Quilt for my mum
  8. Quilt for purple

Ikea cushions
The cushions were a remake for my mother in law, from old Ikea cushions. After getting their kitchen redone, there was leftover fabric from the blinds, and the old red chair cushions didn’t suit anymore. Cue the destruction of one (to work out how they were put together) and make 4 new ones!

Made Malinda cushions

Purple quilt

The purple quilt was finished the first time I went to Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild sit and sew night in Brunswick, however after looking at it askance, I realised the border was too thick and the binding didn’t work.  The binding has been chopped off, the border thinned and to close the quilt I’m using an uncommon method which I’ll blog about later/  Here’s a sneak peek.  This is the next priority to be finished.

How bad is your UFO list?
